the heart of it

tonight we had the christmas dinner party for the vine worship team. it was a great time eating tons of chinese food and talking about theology and a lot of other less important things... i got to give props to one of the guys that always has the right heart.

so what is a right heart?

a right heart is a humble heart. a right heart thinks of others more highly and more often than it thinks of itself. a right heart is directed toward God. a right heart is full of Jesus and still wanting more. a right heart knows it still has things to learn. a right heart always assumes the best about someone by default. a right heart gets over things quickly. a right heart chooses wisely.

do you have a right heart?

my heart is sometimes some of these things, but nearly and/or never all of them at once. oh, Jesus is all of these always.

in worship, i tell the team all the time, there is nothing more important to me than their heart. so today i reminded the worship team that Jesus has a heart that is broken for the lost and their eternity. Jesus isn't just "concerned" for them, but blazingly passionate for their salvation. we represent Jesus in this world, in church, on stage, etc... do we represent a Jesus with a broken heart for those he loves that haven't chosen him yet, or do we represent a Jesus that wants people to believe in him but doesn't really do anything about it?

if you know Jesus, remember, how far did Jesus go to find you?

would you and will you go the same distance to help find someone else?

i hope this messes with you, because the answer determines if you have a right heart.
